TRAVELING TO TAIWAN
12 days in Taiwan
19.04.2014 - 01.05.2014
April 19 we left Los Angeles airport heading to Taiwan. We were super excited since it is our first encounter with Asian country. After 14 hours flight that I am happy I slept majority of the time. To note the kids watched endless movies. So we arrive in southern China province then we have to wait 5 hours yo get our second flight to Taiwan airport. At the airport we ate some traditional Chinese dumpling, tofu with mushrooms, Yury, Yuliya liked the shrimp dumpling. We roamed the airport to kill some time. Finally, we took 2 hours flight to Taiwan. It was very obvious from the people encounter with us that they like foreigner and especially that we are a family. At the airport everyone looked at the kids and couldn't believe that we have 3 children. Yuliya was the star where everyone wants to touch her hair and talk to her. I didn't know that my children will turn into celebrity in Taiwan. We exchange some money in the airport and took bus to chingou where our host family lives. After using other people phone we got hold of our host and someone give us a left to the station we finally been picked by Our host Vernon to their house. Oh mine feels so good to be home with Laura, Vernon, and Channing the food that was waiting for us was great soup, noddles, mushrooms, some other food that I have no idea what is the name but delicious. Our host family house is huge they have swimming pool, sauna, steam room, and many facilities that are part of their house. In order to get over our jet lagged we swim in the pool and went to the sauna. Then Bader and Emma went to the Night market while I and the kids stayed and slept. The next morning we were ready to start our day with hiking. I forgot to mention that we met another couch surfing family at my house family from Canada. Tom and his son Edwardo. All of us went 2 hours away north into the mountains where the temperature dropped to 7 C. The hike was beautiful however we couldn't survive more than half an hour in this cold. We stopped at the sheep fair where some organizer from New Zealand arrange a fair for showing sheeps and horses. The kids loved roaming around where I and Laura enjoyed a game called 5 in a row. In this game two players play using either black stones of white stones to put in blackboard sheet and the rules are that you have to block the other candidate of creating 5 in row. We ate more noodle soup and hot dogs with garlic. Just to note that the food is delicious and very cheap.
